Definition And Overview

An electric fuel pump is used on engines with fuel injection to pump fuel from the gas tank to the injectors. The pump must deliver the fuel under high pressure which should be typically 30 to 85 psi depending on the application so the injectors can spray the fuel into the engine. Fuel pressure must be within specifications for the engine to run correctly. Electric fuel pumps are usually mounted inside the fuel tank, though some may be mounted outside the tank.

The rising importance of electric pumps is anticipated to augment the growth of the automotive electric fuel pumps market during the forecast period. This is attributable to its ability to push gasoline to the engine very effectively. A proper functioning pump is used to deliver the right quantity of oil, considering the operating conditions of the engine, maintaining optimal pressure between the carburettor and pump to minimize overheating and to prevent vapour lock. Too little pressure can starve the engine for fuel, causing it to run lean, misfire, hesitate or stall. Too much fuel pressure can cause the engine to run rough, waste fuel and pollute. Due to this, it is expected to support the growth of the automotive electric fuel pumps market.

The rising vehicle sale and production across the globe is anticipated to augment the growth of the automotive electric fuel pumps market during the forecast period. This is owing to the rapid urbanization, increasing industrialization, increasing disposable income of the consumers, and advancement in technologies. Furthermore, the increasing adoption of personal vehicles has also increased the global sales of automobiles and its production by the manufacturers which in turn is expected to support the growth of the automotive electric fuel pumps market in the forecast period.

The high cost associated with the installation of automotive electric fuel pumps system is likely to restrain the growth of the automotive electric fuel pumps market. Furthermore, automotive electric fuel pumps market is highly dependent on the vehicle production which may also hamper the growth of the market as decline in production for vehicles, due to economic downturn will also decline in manufacturing of automotive electric fuel pumps system.
